On our last day on Kauai, we stopped at an overlook in the town of Hanalei. While the view of the town and ocean is absolutely beautiful, this overlook of the valley was also great. Besides the mountains, you also see all the fields of taro, which is a root vegetable. It has a taste similar to sweet potato when cooked but is also used for making bread, chips or many other items.
Since taro needs a large amount of water to grow, Kauai is an ideal place for it due to all the precipitation it receives.
